Martin, you have a way of asking really good questions that require complex answers. I did not immediately respond hoping other AppGap members would share their thoughts, especially as your comment arrived just as Euan Semple (@euan) was reminding us on Twitter, to be wary of forecasting the future. Very often our predictions are wrong.

Suffice to say I suspect the organizations in the Enteprise 2.0 Expo Hall will continue to integrate groundbreaking technologies into their platforms but will not invent them. For example I did not see a Google booth and if the buzz around Google Wave holds up it promises to be a disruptive platform with signifcant influence.

The places I'm looking for the future of enterprise technology start with:

-Tim Berners Lee Linked Data initiative
- Tim O"Reilly's keynote at Web 2.0 New York last year talking about sensors
- Sandy Pentland's work at MIT developing sociometers and described in this presentation at Google http://snurl.com/lr6gm

From my perspective Enterprise 2.0 and beyond demands more than technology. Part of my thought provoking conversation with Mark Masterson (not reported in my post above) was about "social" and "openness". My colleague Victoria Axelrod and I have written on these topics both in this piece on "Open net∞WORKing Organizations" http://snurl.com/mfk0s and in the Inside Knowledge article "Placing Faces on Knowledge" http://snurl.com/mfk3a

This June 22 Financial Times article featuring UVA"s Network Roundtable convener Rob Cross on "Effective Networks" addresses the essential human factor http://snurl.com/mfkyo

What will Enterprise 2.0 in 2010 be all about? Will it be a 3.0 version / phase in the future? And if so, what will it then include as an addition from the earlier version?
