I've been with box.net for a while, but frankly... Too bulky! Switched to 4shared.com and already use it in my mobile. You can do all the same on 4shared, but the price for Premium is cheaper. The thing is I need more than free 15 GB they offer. I've got 100 GB for the same monthly price box.net offer for 10GB. Glad I found it

Hi KerrieAnne,

I'm the Community Manager for Box.net. I wanted to address the situation you mentioned around your comments.

Per our privacy policy we can not provide access to the information/documents since the privacy policy is an agreement between us and the owner of the account and not any other third party. From our point of view, the information stored within the account is the sole property of the owner, the person or entity, who has access to the account and its email address.

Having said that, taking your particular situation, even if you change testing firms, as long as the person can still access the information pertinent to your company, that's something you could work out with the rep(s) you worked with at that test company however it works best for you.

We obviously take privacy very seriously, and that's why we maintain the policy that I mentioned earlier. It's a great point you mentioned though and I hope this info helps.

Feel free to email me at sean [at] box.net if you have other questions or you can tweet us @boxdotnet.

Best regards,
Sean

Our IT folks told me that our site was "not doing cloud" because of governance concerns.

Ironically, soon after I found myself effectively an involuntary Box.net user when key Environment/OHS test results done by an external firm (3rd party) were no longer emailed to me - but I had to go to Box.net to get access to them

I am required to ensure that our maintenance contractor (2nd party) is doing the right thing by monitoring the test results done by second party and held in Box.net (3rd party). But I don't have to keep my own record sent by tester (3rd party) - that is responsibility of maintenance contractor (2nd party) - who is now only keeping paper copies and accesses Box.net (4th party) as needed

This gets audited as part of our ISO 14001 certification.

Key issue for me is what happens if we change testing firms, testing firm goes broke, testing firm decides not to continue with Box.net. Box.net changes their setup

Who owns this test data held in Box.net ?

A lot of good questions

cheers

I have good things about the extra storage service at box.net. I have to check it out. Could you compare this the new features by EverNote?
